Incentives for Wee Geeks
When i first started blogging, I was worried that I might become just another Mommy blogger. There is nothing wrong with being a Mommy Blogger, but I had this notion that, somehow, I would no longer have interests of my own. Obviously, that’s not how it actually works. Another concern I had, as a parent …
Tracking the Past
Creativity and me
I started this blog as a place where I could geek out about things, share ideas, and, yes, talk about the cool stuff I do with my kids. It somehow became much more about the kids than the geekery. Perhaps this is a stage that all parents go through, perhaps it is just a stage …
Riding the MTA With Kids
It’s Summer time, and New York City is full of amazing and educational opportunities for kids. As a parent with kids in the City, I feel that it is my responsibility to find these opportunities, especially if they are free, and experience them with my children. I spent some time researching, and I found some …
Solar Schools Need to Happen!
Right now, thousands of parents who work in offices are enjoying nice, cool air conditioning while their children are sweltering in school. My own kids are currently in a school that only has partial A/C. My daughter is in a moderately air conditioned room, and my six-year-old asthmatic son is in a sauna. While many …
The Most Addictive Game!
Like many people, I spend a lot of time on Facebook. I like to keep up with friends and family, plan events, see links to things both informational and/or humorous, and to play games. I have always enjoyed playing games, whether board games, card games, tabletop RPGs, console games, or video games. I used to …
Cardboard Luxury Home
As a parent who is concerned about proper nutrition for her kids, I try to get the best food available. That said, I only have a certain amount of time per week, and I do not have the option of driving to the grocery store while my children are at school. Needless to say, …
New projects have been envisioned!
One year, I don’t remember whether we had a Christmas tree, but I do remember helping my mom cover the entire front room with kraft paper, and making presents and ribbons and even a life-size fireplace out of paper. We hung our stockings in front of the paper fireplace. It was like the world had been magically transformed, and my Mom became a hero because she had done this. I also recall a time when she sat on the floor with me and we drew pictures on haunted houses using my huge box of crayons. My Mom is a very creative person, and the times when I was able to share the creation of things with her are cherished moments. I even remember hunting together for pinecones and then dipping them in glue and glitter to make beautiful sparkling decorations.
My Life is Like a Spiderweb
Here it is, January 2012. Some believe it is the end of the world. Many of us know that the Mayan calendar does not end, but begins again. Does this mean that history is doomed to repeat itself, as the calendar repeats? One thing I have noticed over the past year (from filling out dates …

This is my Pixie. She is an intelligent, creative, sweet child. She has many friends, she loves to read, she does well academically. I love my Pixie! Like many children who are a little shy, my daughter has experienced bullying at school. We have contacted the school when this has happened, had conferences, and generally …
